Year Adviser Welcome1

My name is Mrs Saqi Abawi and I am proud to be Year Adviser for Year 10 in 2017. I teach Science at Evans High School and can be usually found in the Science Faculty or Laboratory 5. Dr Sushma Khunger is the Assistant Year Adviser and she can also be found in the Science Faculty. The Head Teacher for the year group is Mrs Ibaa Makhoul who is the English Head Teacher and can be found in the English Faculty.

This year promises to be a busy and eventful one, involving a variety of learning opportunities for our Year 10 students. Students will engage in career based programs and goal setting to prepare them for work experience, senior subject selection, future career paths and tertiary education. All students will have the opportunity to participate in swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals, knockout sports teams and dance programs. After completing their week of work experience, students and parents will explore Preliminary and HSC study options through interview processes and information nights. Students will also be participating in the V.A.L.I.D Science online exam and there will be excursions to universities as a part of the STEPS program in partnership with Western Sydney University. Towards the end of the year we look forward to celebrating in style and ending our year with the Year 10 celebration. More information around all events will be sent home closer to the date of each event.

I look forward to a rewarding journey with my cohort this year and beyond and I welcome any queries from students and their families regarding any aspect of their schooling.
