All newly-arrived students from a language background other than English who live in the Evans IEC drawing area in Western Sydney are referred to our Intensive English Centre for assessment of their English language proficiency before enrolment in high school.
Who can enrol?
Students are eligible to enrol if:
- They are between the ages of 11 and 18.
- They have not completed high school overseas.
- Their first language is not English and they require ESL support.
- They are permanent residents, international fee paying students or have an appropriate temporary visa (fees may be payable). For further information regarding visas and fees, please contact the Centre on (02) 9622 1289.
- They have been in Australia less than six months and have not attended any other English course.
How to enrol
Telephone the Centre on 02 9622 1289 to make an appointment for an assessment.
When making the appointment, the Centre will need the following information: the student's name, address, contact telephone number, date of birth, date of arrival in Australia, language spoken and visa subclass. If the assessment shows they need intensive English instruction, students then enrol directly in the Intensive English Centre.
Assessments and enrolment interviews are held every Thursday during term. A parent/guardian must accompany the student to the interview to sign all necessary documentation. Please allow 3 hours for the assessment and enrolment process.
